In hindsight maybe I should have clarified the poll option to read: "No, keep it archived permanently". If it gets archived then it'll have to get processed as such because I don't much like the thought of hibernating a dozen unused boards indefinitely. The fact that it hadn't already been processed around the time I posted this thread was only due to my personal time constraints at the time since I never anticipated there would be any disagreement surrounding its archiving. (I mean after all it came by request of one of the mod's own co-leaders.)

Question is if the folks who voted for keeping it archived a) voted for keeping it hibernating in its original structure until The Grey Wizard wants to work on it again, or b) voted for a permenent archiving. It's impossible to know and trying to interpret the votes in either direction would be precarious. I guess the best option is to do the poll over again, but I dunno, it feels like we're past that.

As far as I can tell Tlo1048 doesn't want to work on the Black Marsh mod without The Grey Wizard, and in turn The Grey Wizard - to paraphrase - doesn't have time to work on it for the foreseeable future. I respect that, but I don't think it bodes well for a mod if both its leaders are absent from development. If this had been a normal case I might have put forth the idea of a new leader stepping forward for the Black Marsh project -- but like The Grey Wizard says, Black Marsh is like his second child, so it's not as simple as just picking a new leader for that project. Even if it had been it's not certain there would have even been a candidate to step forward.

So in my opinion it's a tricky situation, and an unprecendented at that. But personally I share the views llamaranger expressed in the post above. In my opinion to make a huge mod project successful there really has to be a strong and dedicated leadership and a number of members to tackle the workload. A major part of the point of a team effort is to make something larger than could be done separately, so by its very definition it's too much work for someone to pull off on their own. I respect Tlo1048's and The Grey Wizard's situations but if the leaders of a mod are unsure if they want to spend time on it, or don't feel they have the necessary time to spend on it, then it doesn't bode all that well for that project's future.

Maybe the best course of action would be one that The Grey Wizard himself proposed earlier in the thread - that he sets up a new forum for Black Marsh when he has time to work on it again. That means TGW would retain the Black Marsh project, his second child as he said, and could work on it in his own time without the "red tape" that go with being in Beyond Cyrodiil.

Is it possible to save the forums on my HDD in a quick way, rather then going through each individual page and saving. There is a lot of lore, concept art, ideas, and information that I would like to preserve.

haha. I didn't exactly mean for it to be archived right away. I apologize for the lack of explaining.

I have spoken to Grey and he simply has no time to work on BM. I'd love to keep it going if possible, and will work. But the truth is that if people wanted to keep it going they would have helped out. I thanks all those who have given their support and their time. I do NOT wish for BM to be archived permanatly, only to have it be recognized that we have little work getting done. It is my fault for this whole ordeal to even be discussed.

I wish to apologize to Razorwing, and all my friends on the boards for not stating myself clearly. Llamaranger, I apologize especially to you for all the work you put into it. Grey, you are a great friend, and I'm sorry things went down like this. I meant no offense to any modders in BM, and aside. There is too much work for two average guys to do alone, therefore I suggest we start actually releasing betas.

So, I ask humbly to keep BM active for a little while longer. I'll compile the assets with Grey and try to run it with Llamaranger as long as possible.

If the guys who have moved over to Els and Valenwood hot-foot it back to BM (we will be very sorry to lose their further contributions as they are doing loads of great stuff) they have my support and blessing! Yours is a special mod.

What Razorwing actually said was that he did not like the thought of hibernating indefinitely.

Now what is your problem guys? Are you members of the BM Core or BM modders?

There is no resource conflict here. You know the bandwidth is unlimited and modern memory the same effectively. How does this concern you now? Other than one might feel obliged to give support to a fellow modder and mod leader who has expressed a commitment to his mod?

Undermining the authority of a fellow mod leader is not the way to go, and Tlo1048 is still BM leader. And no longer absent. He had to take a leave of absence leaving the Grey Wizard in charge. The Grey Wizard now has to take a leave of absence so Tlo1048 is preparing to step back in. End of story. We have no proper business in this matter any longer as the situation has altered.

The vote was taken in the belief that there was no leader - no other leadership had stepped in to take up the reigns at that time an dit was correct that the members of that mod either choose a new leader or the mod be archived as necessary - but now there is a leader, therefore the decisions are his to make, no longer ours.

A mod has to have a leadership structure as it contains intellectual property and there are various legalities that must be observed.

Advice is one thing, but unless we acceed to Tlo1048's return then this becomes interference in the responsible leadership of another mod and that is not right.
