Yeah, that is too many polies for collision.

My experience:
I do sometimes use the Max "Optimize" tool on a copy of the original mesh to make a less poly one for the collision.

But about half the time, I find myself also having to make collision from scratch, by creating really low poly shapes, and putting those shapes over the parts of the textured mesh that they fit well. I then end up with several "low poly shapes" for the collision, which I then "collapse" or otherwise combine into one bigger collision mesh.

I also sometimes weld vertices of the collision shapes I make, in areas that they can be simplified even more.

@ Vintra - you can use that decimating feature of Blender plus weld the resulting stray vertices.....

.....or make very simple collision shapes from scratch, place them over the texture mesh, and then combine all those simple collision shapes in Blender somehow into a single collision mesh.

Collision meshes are almost always much lower poly than the textured mesh they cover, because they have to be. Otherwise, the more of that model that is used in the game, the more the game performance suffers. You might not notice lag at first; but in a game heavily populated by trees, objects, NPCs, and clutter - you will start to see lag eventually.

You can use alot more than 480 faces, it's only the colision mesh that needs to be basic. The actual mesh itself can use up to 1000-2000 (putting it into perspective, a potato uses around 1000 faces), and the model looks great, but the sail needs to be more sleek (it's too blocky atm) and also it would be good to have something around the edges of the boat to make the edge between the deck and the sides look nicer -otherwise, I'm glad you've done this boat, as it's a very differnt Khajiiti look.

That's actually a good idea.

Yes, of course i know i can use lot more than 480 faces. But i love to stay on low poly.

Yes, I like this model too, well done!

You've picked a good mix in your collision too: a triangle mesh for the hull and deck and simple boxes to cover the more complicated rail and mast shapes.

You're also right to start with the lowest poly that works then add more detail where it's worthwhile - and I totally agree with TOYB as to where that would help.

This is shaping up to be a great set - I can't wait to see the new Senchal!

Looking a whole lot better, the only thing left I can suggest would be to slightly curve the sails, so that when looking at it from the side you don't see a flat plane, otherwise it seems finished to me
