As we are in agreement on what the questline is to achieve.. (DA and me)
How to join would probably be the first question we should ask ourself.. Anyone who got a idea?

On entry into elysweyr, you are subject to a background check, all those witha criminal record (which all players will have, how else do they end up in Imperial Dungeons?), are sent to be further checked for convictions. On hearing your background you are thrown into a cell where you are interrogated and searched (for quest pruposes it may make sense for them to plant skooma on you in order to convict you) by an Imperial Legion officer.
About mid-way through the conversation, after some boring questions that have no real consequences he will ask you why you are not rotting on the Imperial City Prison. Range of options include (but are not limited to, this is just an idea): -"I was found not guilty" -"I escaped with the Emperor and he told me to find his lost heir" -"I killed the Emperor and escaped, and there's nothing you can do to prove it" -or possible sarcastic answer "I flew out with my magic pixie wings". No matter what you chose the officer will be sceptical, especially about "not guilty" and "killed the Emperor", and will call you a liar if you say "escaped with the Emperor" and will just get angry if you mention "pixie wings". Either way it is a largely unimportant choice. At this point another Legion guard will enter followed by a messenger called M'Acaist'a representing the Mane. M'Acaist'a has a heated discussion with the Legion Officer, aparently the Mane is very much against the border guards because they are causing unrest and disrupting trade routes. After this discussion the Officer turns to you, sighs and says "you are free to go, but I won't forget this." or something similar. The player is led out by M'Acaist'a. Once outside M'Acaist'a will apologise about the way the Legion are behaving. After saying goodbye he will stop and then run back and ask you if you are in need of work, a few easy tasks so you get the lay of the land. If "Yes" - "Excellent, find M'Acaist'a at the Palace Gates, after 5pm, then we shall talk business" If "No" - "Fine, but if you change you mind come and find M'Acaist'a at the Palace" This is just a rough idea, Edd Notes: I think the messenger's name has to begin with "M' ", because this is lore accurate in showing that a Khajiit is either: young, an apprentice or a virgin. Dialogue-wise that was just to get the idea.

Meh, Weren't intending to have it start on entry as far as I know..
And the Palace is supposed to be off limits to people(well most people).. and the Mane don't usually ask for help from any race.. beyond his own people.. And starting unimportant was also a wish I believe... Now I'll just have to talk with my brain cells.. And any crime the player has committed would be included in whatever jail time he have had before going to Elsweyr.. (Unless the Imperials have a strange jail system where they don't even hold records of who should be in it.. and then the idea would be forfeit anyway..) Re: Notes He doesn't need to start with M..

Quote:Originally posted by Krisi-_ Think you may have misunderstood. The Mane doesn't send the messenger because he wanted to bust the player out of jail, the messenger was sent because the Mane generally disagrees with the strict border control the Legion are operating, and its taken him a long time to get there ''cause he's had a long way to go. I admit that the Palace wasn't the best meeting point but I was in a rush. I forgot to mention that the messenger should be some sort of apprentice under the tutelage of priests somehow connected to the Mane. It is not the Mane asking for help, it is the messenger asking you to help out with his temple-based duties. After a few quests for him assume the priests catch on to who's really doing the work and you get to the join the "Temple of the Mane" properly. That was the idea in my head, I just didnt write it out very well first time... I think that explanation fits all the criteria quoted above Edd EDIT: AS for starting on entry, I'm sure that can be worked around...

I'd hoped some more people would care to discuss this.. but nah.
And yes llamaranger it does beyond start on entry. If someone can find a good enough work around to that I'd love it.. But it only introduces the Mane faction and we have three, if it to be on start entry, that would need a introduction. DA care to give some guidelines for the MQ?

Well, I have no problems with the mane sending a messanger, so long as the player can decline, but I'd prefer another method of introduction. For the two alternatives, I'd like the player to seek them out of his own accord upon hearing about them, it would be easy to drop names and locations in rumors and texts to make the player aware of it. And the political climate should be prominant, so the player would be aware of what the conflicting factions are.
Of course, an epic start that is not based on what faction the player is in would also be nice. I really have very few guidelines for you here since most of them would be arbitrary and limiting.

Possible we can involve the Empire in this? (or some Elder Council member)

Sending the player to stabalize the political system would be a good way to nudge the player towards the mane, but still allow him to choose others.
Sounds great.

But it sounds a little grande. Well the empire won't involve just about anyone int o their politic. Might require us to have some requirement for beginning the MQ. We could have some Elder Council member being the guy who sends you on this. But he would also need something that makes him trust you..

This discussion do die fast
So which do you (people) prefer: The notes are mainly to myself. Player being sent by the Elder Council:
*Well actually hard if not wanting it to depend on last point on the list. Player meeting a Elder Council member:
* I'm thinking that the EC member needs a reason to be able to trust the player. ** Depends on how much we want the player to know and control. *** A slightly smaller push though. ***** Needs the first '*' [/HR] You can see I prefer the latter..
