Hi Lux

Not ignoring you - honest! Got my head in something else. Listened once to the version three posts back and wasn't happy with something I couldn't put my finger on. I wanted to think about it before answering - but now you mention I think it was the dominant brass in a couple of patches, so you've probably fixed it.

Apart from that I like it a lot - will listen to the revised one and the new piece soon....

Sounds pretty much finished! The only thing I can hear that needs changing is the gap around 1:24, it feels too empty rather than a pause for dramatic effect or mood.

Sounds too fast for an overworld/exploration theme (which for Anequina, needs to be more drawn out & sweeping, giving you the feeling of vast dusty plains, lonely prairies, sparse Northern woodlands, and barren canyons).
However for a battle track in Anequina (which should be all about the hunt, and it definitely makes me picture that, I could easily picture a guy on horseback hunting down something, or a cheetah chasing down it's prey), it's pretty much spot on (can't help myself from listening to it on repeat), though could use further development to take it more in that direction.

For battle tracks, we'd be looking at tracks between 1-2 mins long :goodjob:

Excellent, thank you for the feedback. I've turned the overworld concept into the battle concept & am going to start on a more sweeping cue for the overworld theme.


I'll be reducing the pause in the trailer theme in a little bit, though if it's still too long then you can always edit the MP3 in Audacity to make it shorter or longer until you're happy with it!

I've listened to both pieces now and I agree with TOYB

The main theme seems "finished" from a scoring perspective, you're right: the brass no longer dominates. I have to say I'm not really keen on the actual sound of that brass but I note you said yourself that you're not happy with your sound library so I'm sure that will be fixed in the longer term.

The second theme is great as a piece of music but again, TOYB's right - it falls between two stools: neither "ambient" enough for exploration nor "threatening" enough for battle. I'm sure you'll sort something out though!

I sure will sort something out.

And I really agree with you; I hate the brass.

So I upgraded it to a cleaner brass library, but it doesn't have that "crackly" brass-like fortissimo sound so it's a little bit lacking like that :<

Yupyup - fixed the brass! I wouldn't worry about it lacking punch - I think synthesized brass is really hard to get to sound decent so it's better if it just blends in as you have it.

The overworld theme's nice too - I think the Morrowind theme on a single guitar string overstates the reference: I'd keep it more subtle but I like it being there.

Other than that, no real comment (not being a musician!)

I think the ES riff is fine in the track -if balanced out with more explore tracks that don't include the ES riff (much like with the Oblivion explore tracks, not all of them include the ES riff), so it only pops up occasionally, it should make for a healthy balance.

As for mood, it's bang-on-perfect -keep up the amazing work! :goodjob:
