Howdy

Quest Development has been at a standstill for quite some time
Understanding I have not been able to devote alot of attention to this it is apparent we must begin to get something going here

Quests are important to the sucess of the game no matter how small or seemingly insugnificant the quest may be any and all quests go a long way to mod sucsess, beautiful landscape, places to see great models are all for naught if you have nothing to do

I ask all modders to pick up a quest, if your building an interior be it home, guild, cave etc etc look through the ideas we have allready submitted and use one of them or make up one of your own but please add something

Perhaps it would be useful to head hunt a few modders who might be interested. I know that Lingwei has done some stuff for you and I've been working on fully voice acting his latest release about the Blackwood Company which should be out some time very, very soon (albeit without voices as yet, because I'm not finished).

However, I'd considered asking him to help me with a few quests concerning Anaster, my NPC. If we target people who have a vested interest in particular areas then we might be able to get more quests built up. For example, the Black Marsh team recently took note of a guy who released some good missions based in the Black Marsh. The visuals weren't anything near as good as what they are developing on those forums but the fact remains that he would make an instant impact if recruited.

Speaking for myself, I've worked with some excellent and experienced guys. Some of whom might be available for small-scale cameo stuff. Check out these names and tell me what you think: Painkiller97, GiskardUK, Deathless Aphrodite, Lingwei. I know that Lingwei should be free-ish fairly soon. And Giskard has recently done some fabulous work on creating a Wood Elf city which really shows his range of talents. Others like ThePriest909 and Leo Gura will definitely be busy but I could speak to some of them if you like.

Come on guys, Quests aren't that scary. As long as you plan it out, everything's really not that difficult.

A good tutorial to understanding quest basics can be found here and others can be found here

Our own FAQ board has a small Quest Tutorial.

Quests don't have to be large, 10-hour monstrosities that take months to build. We really need a lot of varied small quests, such as the generic "Fetch", "Escort", "Kill this" quests.

Even placing highwaymen which approach the PC and ask for money (or else a fight) fall under the jurisdiction of Quest Dev, and require simple scripting that you could probably steal from Vanilla OB.

Whatever the case is, there are a lot of quests which can be taken or made up.

I thought while reading this thread that maybe I should give my two cents in with quests rather than interiors. I don't have very special imagination but I can complete claims which include basic scripting, I haven't tried making "rent a bed" one yet but maybe I should try. Probably it's not too hard and I try not to copy it from vanilla OB :brew:

I'm going for 24-hour walk(or ~50 km) with 8 kg in backpack after 12 and half hours or so, maybe it's now bedtime

Next week I'll be most likely recording at the studio with my band, but maybe I'll start claiming quests and do them in some evenings.

Good to see people interested. Feel free to either post and start work on a simple concept of your own design.

Anybody could always claim something in the "Open Claims" section, which is admittedly a bit disorganized at present.

OR

People who don't actually feel that they have the skills required to make a quest could work on polishing up some of the neat concepts which are just lying around on this board. If somebody can forge any of these concepts into a decent and organized quest draft, Bob or I will gladly move it to the "Open Claims" section.

@ Hegemege - If you're willing to help out with some of the initial steps involved in creating Anaster's ( Potential Reward for Quest Developers - WIP ) storyline then the help would be gratefully received. I don't have specific ideas as yet because I'd like Rodan to get back to me and let me know how, if at all, this NPC can fit into his piracy plans for Blacklight. However, it's worth knowing that Anaster is a cross-over creation who will also be likely to be appearing in 'Black Marsh' as well.

Some quest ideas are already outlined in the post I made on the 21st May.

Any and all help is welcome, and I appreciate and even support the talking to and or soliciting of other modders to bring their quest ideas to our forum and into our mod

The Quest Ideas Seniosh has indicated are exactly the kind were talking about

little "do" quests

Fetch
Kill
Recover
Escort

all these quests are easily done and EVERY interior claim can have one

simple as walking into a home and the npc saying Hey, I need some help can you please go get this for me

or... My daughter has come to town to visit, can you please get here from the (place of entry) and bring her to my home

the other quests as they are in the General Quest Discussion board are larger and need to be thought out those too could use some help in organizing but in general I think if we can add a quest to some of the interiors such as listed above it would accomplish alot
