That's what a ship is, you know. It's not just a keel and a hull and a deck and sails, that's what a ship needs, but what a ship is - what the Black Pearl really is - is freedom.

Quote:Originally posted by Quentin Fortune Cool! No, [strike]strike that[/strike] - super cool! It seems to me that clicking one of the styling button images (B, I, U etc) launches a javascript. That's good news to me since it means that we can probably expand that style feature just by making a new javascript from one of the pre-made templates and attach it to the new image button. I could do that if I was an admin, I think :brew: ...hehe.

RE: Forum Wishlist
Quote:Originally posted by Razorwing Well, the "flashy" editor is written in Java, not Javascript, which means that unless Valderon got the source we're not going to change it.... However, the "Standard editor" is Javascript based, and could be given additional functions... Maybe Valderon can confirm this?

RE: Forum Wishlist
erm... does that "flashy" editor comes with a "and don't decompile" or "don't modify it" licence? if not, we don't neccessarily need the source (but it would be easier if we have it.).

Here's what I would like, in more or less detail
On the Forum Portal page, delete the column "Views" and make the "Post" column less wide. Then, use the extra space to put a table in a new right sidebar, with links to all the boards. A kind of abbreviated Forum Overview link list. That way I wouldn't have to switch pages all the time I propose we add an <iframe> to the php page, which references an article to be created in the CMS. That article uses a special, empty template so that it only displays the links. As it's an article instead of a category, very little setup has to be done. Then, when someone adds a new board or changes a board etc they can just log into the CMS and edit that article. If possible, even better would be a special version of the Forum Overview page only used by that iframe, because then the link list would update itself when changes were made to the forum boards. Or anything else which can get a link list of the boards onto the portal page would be just as good. Any opinions on this?

I like that idea. If it would make things easier and save time. Sounds good.
I just thought of one when typing this up. I would like to see the highlights when I select my text in this "extended" editor, it would save me a lot of time figuring out what it is that I am either deleting or copying. It's frustrating. |

Now, if I could have a little textbox with my own text snippets below the smiley table in the left column... that would be very nice. I have them all in a text document right now, to ensure consistency when I include various messages and stuff.
