Heightmap?

Forgive me for being ignorant... but does the Morrowind.esp have a heightmap in it? I thought the terrain in Morrowind was made by hand in the CS, and that the Morrowind CS couldn't do anything with height maps.
Now, if Morrowind.esp DOES have a heightmap, I'd be taxed to say the height map isn't copyrighted. And you can slap me for being such a doofus. If there is no height map available except for what we generate... we could always apply some Photoshop filters to make the mountains more mountainy and to remove the dangers of copyright infringemenht. We just have to resize it and split it when we are done.

The heightmap that MGE generates is made from data in Morrowind.esm, which is property of Bethesda. The heightmap is just an image representation of the height data.

Beth said somewhere before, and 100% sure of this, that the HM is NOT copyright, neither is the OB HM, which has to be sort of OBVIOUS after the Cyrodiil for Morrowind team used it in their mod, they even cleared it up with Beth.
Morrowind cells are 4 times larger than Oblivion cells.
To answer your question, yes. But probably no.

Quote:Originally posted by FLESHThe heightmap seems to be dependent on the number of vertices, not cells. Oh, Hell, let's just import all of TES3's assets! They're copyrighted, but we can change them so they get around that, so it's all good, right? X( If you think that reusing very old material is such a good idea, why didn't you just use ST's land from the TES3 mod? |

what's your point, that you can get angry?
step back breathe, chill, and see what people are saying and why... they saying all this because there is seemingly no progress and so people trying to be helpful because they feel it may speed up the process of the heightmap. That is what I can see, but I believe that you are working hard on it. So go, get the heightmap done. It doesn't have to be exactyl perfect, but needs to be 99% good so any tiny geographical error can be sorted out easily. Don't take offense, we all want this project to succeed, I don't need we all squabbling when we coul dbe working on stuff. |
