Lost the View Window in Max
I was working in 3ds Max when I lost my view window, now I have a top window where the view window used to be. So I have 2 top windows. How do I get my view window back?

I *highly* reccomend reading through the tutorials that come with 3DS Max. They helped me out a ton, and are great for memorizing hotkeys. And Gundalf nailed it. :-D

Personally I always model in a maximized viewport and use the F(ront), L(eft), T(op) and rarely B(ottom) keys to snap to the appropriate camera viewpoint. I feel that gives me the best overview of the model. 'Course, someone using a 21" monitor might disagree

I usually use a large User viewport with smaller front, left, and top windows down the left side. The funny thing is, I hardly ever look at those three windows, but if I maximize the User viewport I get the annoying feeling that I have to have those three back on the screen.
Chaos, panic, disorder...my work here is done.

Thanks for the tips guys, a question about weapons: isn't there some kind of a special center or something you have to position in the weapon mesh that will determine where the PC grasps it?

Ok thanks, do you need a more recent version of Nifskope to convert to objs or whatever so they can be brought into max? My version of Nifskope hasn't been updated in a while, so I'm assuming I'll need to get a more recent one.
