Haven't read the entire post, so I don't know if this has been suggested yet, but this is how I think the Nerevarine should be portrayed, if portrayed at all: as the player.
Possible Explanation: The Empire recognized that the Nerevarine's loyalty to the Empire was beginning to falter, Morrowind was becoming an all too real military threat after Dagoth Ur's defeat and the Nerevarine's continued contributions to the province as a whole. The possibility of a revolt frightened the Empire, and so a plan to remove the Nerevarine from the picture was born. He was captured and, as per the Emperor's request, robbed of his memories and imprisoned rather than assassinated. A rumor was created that he had left on an expedition to Akavir, so that no one would get suspicous. When the player arrives in Vvardenfell years later, a series of events leads him to discover the truth. However, just as he has reclaimed his old memories, so must he reclaim his old responsibilities. At least, that's how i've always played my Oblivion character. I'm sure i'm not alone. Anyway, just an idea. |

Nerevarine
Quote:Originally posted by SerichoErr... And what about Great Houses? They are the real rulers of Morrowind and we know that Redoran was destroyed... And did you forget that in Morrowind you have killed Almalexia, Sotha Sil has died, and as we know Vivec has disappeared. In that case The Elder Council (who rules The Empire after story in TES4) couldn't even think about Morrowind as a military threat. And real Nerevarine has magical abilities to protect him from corprus and other "illnesses"... Nerevarine is too powerful to be played, like Revan in KoTOR 2...
Optimise!

That's a good analogy using Revan, it's very true and I didn't actually think of it. Nereverine would be like Vivec in terms of power if he were in TES4 Vv.
I also agree with you on the state of the military in Morrowind. They don't per se suffer from a lack of independence or military capability, but they are lacking completely in leadership. With the Tibunal in disarray over the loss of the mortal gods, and Houses Indoril and Redoran hitting the roughs, there is no central authority. |

I have an idea.
Remember KoToR 2? That dialogue with Atton in the beginning, when you and he talked about was Revan man or woman? Probably, it is possible to do something similar, an arguement with an NPC about Nerevarine's race and gender. |

Now that's a good idea
"Why would I be bound by rules if I can see so far beyond them?"
"I think, therefore I am" - Descartes "I don't think, therefore I spam" "Do not seek to follow the footsteps of the wise, seek what they sought" "On top of the world" |

Quote:Originally posted by Sericho A major flaw to this would simply be that the Empire would have never considered the Nerevarine as Loyal The role of the Nerevarine is to restore Morrowind to its former glory. This equals Enemy of the Empire ************************* I thought the decision was allready made not to bring the Nerevarine back, even in a small role ? Enjoy Bob

The nerevarine saved Tamriel from dagoth ur. We do not know what would have been happened to Tamriel if dagoth ur won. Dagoth Ur was even talking about conquering MW and even Tamriel.

The Nerevarine won't be coming back, was stated before and stated again. He/she was supposed to have moved on to Akavir (Hope thats right), so won't be here in Vvardenfell.
