I think Montezuma thought Cortez or one of the other conquistadors was a god because of some prophecy they had, I don't know exactly if the pale skin was a part of it. Other than that I think everyone else despised the Spanish.
Lol what?

Quetzalcoatl was a compassionate but somewhat naive god... his brother(?) gave him a great feathered costume and thus he gained vanity... and then convinced him to try liquor and and when he did he got drunk and made love with his sister... when he awoke from the stuper he realized what he had done... insulted people, sexed his own kin, and lost his respectability....
so he went east on a raft of snakes and said he'd one day return... when the Spaniard came over, they looked pale skinned, they had beards, and they came following mysterious omens, and on the date (on the Aztec calendar) when Quetzalcoatl was to return... also, there's a Mayan symbol... a sapling with an arrow through it... well guess that looks like that? a cross. When the conquistadores came into the Yucatan with crosses, some tribes were fooled at first... they leanred pretty quick when the wqomen were raped and the men were slain and survivors pu tinto slavery... yea, often that was preceeded by plague of smallpox... and the Incas were in the middle of a frickin civil war when Pizarro came into Peru... so much bad luck... man.... if it weren't for smallpox and bad luck the native americans might've held out against the European invasions... or maybe if during the Han Dynasty the Chinese had sailed to America, perhaps small pox would've ran its course earlier on and made the people have immunities before damn conquistadores and colonists come in... Taiwan has a similar story, and I feel so much compassion... I'll stop talking now, I feels I am going WAYYY off topic |

Hmmmm, that is an interesting story. Poor Quetzalcoatl, he was just set up by his brother. Other gods from other cultures did that all the time and they were just like "So what? I'm a f-ing god! What are you gonna do about it?"
That's kinda spooky how he showed up on the specific date when Quetzalcoatl was supposed to. Makes me worry if the Aztecs are right about the apocalypse in 5 years.
Lol what?

you mean 2012, the apocalypse day on the Mayan calendar?
well, it'll probably be a lot of nukes... or a disease, or a freakish storm.... lots of coutnries have nukes... there are diseases we aren't able to keep up with these days... and we seen Hurricane Katrina and the tsumani... storms getting worse... places warming up... deserts getting drier and drier... and they say if the temperature rises 2 more degrees Fahrenheit then most of the algae in the ocean will die, as they are very sinsitive to that... and the oceans will starve... also our use of so much synthetics will not help us in the end... maybe not in fifve years but it will be hard to reserve the shit we started by becoming irresponsibly 'civilized' |

would've been awesome to see cortez get his ass kicked by a bunch of native american tribes. If moctezuma hadn't let them into the capitol as guests, the spanish would've been dead. it was like 5,000,000 against 500, but spaniards had suprise, smallpox, guns, ect.
One thing i've always wondered: why weren't the spanish wiped out by native american diseases? Surely disease is a double edged sword; a gift that keeps on giving if you will. Rightfully, the spanish should've died of... i dunno, malaria? cancer? something that's actually infectious? Here's a question: how do you know that cortez arrived on the prophesized day? Did HE have a calander? did the aztecs have one that survived? Most of them were slightly enslaved, so how many priests were left who knew what the date was. I think it may have been a case of "priests find some funny man they can pass off as a god, screw the date" the PEOPLE don't have to know when the gods arrive, and if the priests can try to validate their religion, so be it. You're right, this is really really off topic. There is hope for the future though. Many people don't belive it, but the industrialized nations have improved a LOT. Ever read about 19th century London? 21st century London is loads cleaner, because of more efficient and clean fuels and factories. Many parts of the world are the same. Also, countries cannot start caring about the environment until they industrialize, and amass enough wealth. So we MUST let brazil cut down forest so that they can get other industries going to get enough money to be able to conserve the forest. stop being so pessimistic, things are getting better, and will only continue. remember this quote "The stone age did not end for want of stones" now apply that to the oil age gentlemen. spaniards also had allies... not only more spaniards that came later but also surrounding tribes and cities tiurned on the Aztecs as the Azteca had established a brutal and bloody hegemony... amongst the staunchest allies of Cortez were the totonacs and tlaxcalans
malaria came from Africa, it was not in the Americas before... there were diseases and such but remember, the Spaniards demanded high treatment and for awhile they lived in the palaces of Tenochtitlan... they had it good... conquistadores in the Yucatan had to trudge through jungles, swamps, treacherous highlands... with booby traps, ambushes, and decisive Mayan armies... yeah the future may be good, but I feel there'll be big hardship before the world is a cleaener and better place. we are WAAAAAYYYYY off-topic... why? cause ya'll love my name! I do too |

Nostadamus alse said this world is going to end and till today all of his profecies has been true in a way. I men they were vague but so far correct. One of the first steps was world hunger by disease. Well what have we had? Birdflue, mad cow disease, pigplague etc.
Cancer is a disease that has increased in the current years because of all our little toxins. London isn't that clean, the smog there is more deadly then smoking o_0 It's sad the Aztecs and Mayans were defeated, killed, raped, enslaved, murdered etc. But hey they ate humans Ah well survival of the fittests.

From my understanding, he said it would end far in the mid to late 3000's. Unless this was a miscalculation, or by a different set of calendar or different measurements then we used or thought to use...
Seems that way, anyway.
