Jackass Thompson finally decided to go attack Oblivion:
http://gamesfirst.com/?id=1280 "Its popular and newly released Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion has now been re-rated "Mature" and recalled by the ESRB because Take-Two and its co-publisher have been caught embedding nude figures and scenes in the game which can be unlocked with a code provided by the developer. This is not a modification or "mod" of the game by gamers. It is an unlocking of content that was put there by Take-Two with the unlocking code provided by the developer!" That's a bunch of bullshit. There's no nude scenes, there's no unlocking code. The only way to find the nude files is with a third party BSA extractor. |

Jack thompson makes the other morons against video games look even worse. I'm sure they don't want him screwing up their agenda either. When he gets caught in his lies he'll make the politicians against video games look stupid

It's ludicrous that some think it's okay for a fifteen-year-old to play a game that lets you kill innocent people in their sleep, or suck people's blood, but NOT okay to see a cooter. Having sex is normal and a part of human nature. Killing people... not so much. But if killing people in a game is okay, then showing cooters or dingalings should definitely be okay too.
I hope Bethesda managed to sell as many copies as they needed to fuel the development of The Elder Scrolls V. They targeted teen audiences with Oblivion, right? So, not being able to sell the game to teens very easily could hurt their sales, since they would have intentionally made it more appealing to that audience.

The thing that really ticks me off is the Thompson is going after Take-Two, who happened to be unfortunate enough to get stuck with GTA and OB. Now thats just shamefull, Take Two had nothing to do with putting the sex games in GTA, and it wasn't their fault someone forgot to delete the Nude Skin from OB. Plus he's saying that you can unlock the nudity with a code X( I really hope he goes on some gaming television channel for an interview on Oblivion and gets roasted. That email that he sent out to Television channels is really poorly written, not to mention arrogant and obnoxious. God, I wish people would stop trying to blame their children's poor behaviour on video games, and own up to their own failure :bash:

Hear hear. That's exactly how I think too when the issue of minors playing our mod comes up. We shouldn't have to censor ourselves because kiddies can download the mod - if kiddies are playing Oblivion in the first place it's their parents fault for not keeping up with what their children are doing at the computer. Heck, I have *one* child, that's where my responsibility begins and ends
It's just *easier* for some parents to blame schools, blame television, blame movies, blame games, etc rather than admitting they don't care enough to monitor their spawns as much as they should.

Quote:Originally posted by Razorwing And whats worse is that alot of kids CAN tell the difference between fiction an reality. Grand Theft Auto is probably owned by millions of kids, but you don't see kids running into the street an shooting people in real life. I'm glad you wouldn't censor you're selves. Censorship is against creativity. I don't know why people think violence is ok, but nudity isn't. But it probably won't end here in America in a long time. Neither will the blaming. |

Don't be so sure. If some new kind of electronic media shows up and becomes popular, people will likely start blaming that instead of video games. People used to blame rock and roll and comic books for violent children...

I meant that blaming something won't stop, not blaming video games. That'll blow over in the next decade. But blaming will stay.
