Quote:Originally posted by Hoss Might be that Vincent doesn't like me, I dunno. Or, as Quentin says, it could be he didn't really mean to say "dull". I prefer to assume it's the latter. As far as I know our team has always had a friendly relationship with WI, especially FlyTSI and Intelligentsia. Oblivion looks really cool and we're all eager to play it, but after having played it for so long the stuff from the original game won't look as interesting as it is right now. There'll still be room to use the assets from the game in new and creative ways, but you just can't beat new models and tilesets for originality. Trust me, a lot of players will value the originality we'll be able to offer with the really amazing competence that has developed in-house over time, with the fortunate addition of talented modellers like you and Oom and spankybus and stevegek joining our team. Few teams have the capability to produce it's own models on the scale we're doing, and personally that's something I'm proud of In my view the important questions are matters like "Does it look like a house a member of House Redoran would build?" rather than "Does it have enough polygons?" -- because I'd rather see a Redoran living in a low-poly house that looks believable than the most advanced Imperial mansion that comes packaged with Oblivion, because the latter would make no sense to me. Galrina: Thanks, that was nice of you to say Yes the Morrowind Redoran buildings does look a bit depressing I think. Hoss' buildings feel more like what the House would build on the more civilized mainland. I can totally see a large metropolis like Kragenmoor be rebuilt with those houses and add to the impression of a a huge, civilized Redoran city.

O OK! I was just a little offended by it. But with that explanation I don't feel so bad.
Personally on the poly issue I don't like real high poly things because no matter what graphics card you have higj polies still slow things down. I mean alot of pople who have palyed WI have said it was laggy because of the polies(not all)(even those with the high end graphics cards). And like Razorwing said I prefer the quality of creativity over poly count. I don't fell my work was all that great but most creators feel that way they are always looking for ways to improve over what they have already done. I have scraped alot of things I probably should not have because I thought it wasn't good enough. |

lol Yup Hoss, we are our own worst critics. That's why I ask Danath what he thinks.. a lot. It's nice having a captive audience. mwahaha

Hoss: I reacted to it too. "Dull" is such a subjective term, and if I felt that about something someone released I wouldn't say it unless I had it in for that guy, so I understand where you're coming from.
I think I've read somewhere that people are reluctant to put themselves in situations where they risk getting a negative reaction, and often enough I think that's true. I'm much more comfortable talking about other people's stuff than my own, though I know some parts of it is on par. I really like how the fence turned out in the Traditional Mansion for example, but I also know many of my other models need a second look and I'm eager to try out some new things on them that I've picked up since I left them. Galrina: Hehe, I would imagine there are tangible benefits for Danath if he words himselves right
