(grumble)
Who wants to be nice to the goblins anyway? I STILL think Goblin leather armour would be a nice touch. And yeah, what about a set of Trollbone armour too???

Had a look at the original armour in this thread - not so impressed. It isn't that the guy lacks talent as a texturer, mote tht he has not done his research on the materials that he uses and their history.
Obsidian is a heavy stone, not a light glass. There has been lots of talk on the forums about blue glass armor for months, maybe years. But glass armor is a Dunmer thing, so the style ought to be Morrowind - what we see is Imperial at a time when the Legions have been withdrawing and Imperial has to be rather lower on the scale of 1 - 10 in popular styles. The Holy armour? Looks ok, but it should be new, different stats, and totally fresh design. I would have been more impressed if he had created a new armory, with a special NPC, and a looong history. as is, nah. If you want the guy to join, that's ok by me. I just hope he doesn't read this and hold grudges. It's such a pain handling that sort of stuff. --------------------- Goblin armor - remember Tribunal - the sewers under the city? There were gobboes there, they dropped shields and weapons, think that's all. The stuff did damage, and took it, but had a very low durability factor. Ask yourself, are semi-animals likely to have excellent weapon and armor crafting skills? Even if they do, their stuff is for very different physiques, and one very important thing about armor is that it is not flexible - except soft leather. and soft leather would retain the creature's smell! You would have to add a serious penalty for that if you tried to mod it. edit typoes

I was thinking of something along the line of Hippo Skin. In Africa they used Hippo leather for armour (shields, actually) and pound for pound, it was as tough as bronze.
I think that the stink of Goblin Armour should penalise your personality points when you're wearing it, but on the other hand give you a bonus in sneak when you're sneaking up on a Goblin! EDIT And the fact that goblin shields had very low durability, and protection, AND YET the goblins were hard to kill, was the very thing that made me think "Aha! Then my sword must be bouncing off the think and tough Goblin skin!" Doesn't that sound logical?

Quote:Goblin armor - remember Tribunal - the sewers under the city? There were gobboes there, they dropped shields and weapons, think that's all. Quote:Ask yourself, are semi-animals likely to have excellent weapon and armor crafting skills? Even if they do, their stuff is for very different physiques, and one very important thing about armor is that it is not flexible - except soft leather. The point about them being semi animals is that you cannot compare them with 'primitive' human societies and so the question of the likely usefulness of their 'manufactures' is germain. Since they are 'truly sub-human' and therefore not to be compared with primitive human tribes, you cannot expect to profit from their industry - unless it is in the way of natural by-products. With the by-products of gobboes though you have to take in their nature which is both violent and unhygenic = you would not want to use Goblin Dung for your rose bed. The roses would smell foul and likely spread disease. Etc There just might be a goblin essence that could be used alchemically to cause harm, but it would be very, very counter lore to use their bits like that. Even necromancy in Imperial thinking is more acceptable. This is I believe the reasoning that went into the Tribunal Gobboes, and I feel that their reasoning is sound. In another world things might be different, but we are set in Nirn...? K?
