Hi Ibsen's Ghost. All of this can be changed at will.
When the player first greets Pete. Pete says he is too busy. Silgrad city: The city is fine. Silgrad will take care of itself. It's hot in here: Yes, well the flames will do that. Do you like my arrangement? I have also started a 'Pete's ledger' which is left on a small table in front of the 'arrangement' along with a chair where he sits and reads. The ledger, so far reads as follows: 1. Fire is a chemical reaction releasing heat and light energy as it burns. 2. Color and strength will differ depending on the nature of the fuel and impurities. So far my affliction does not change with the type of fire. My needs go un-nurtured and my hunger grows . I must find the ultimate flame before............. for those who want a peek |

My immediate response is to go a bit 'The Prodigy' on this character and give him a sort of 'Liam Howlett' punky voice but that would make him less a student of fire and more a reckless, pyromaniacal experimenter.
If you can give me a few parameters to base my lines on, including any quests or lore that he may be connected to, then I can get to work on fully characterising him. To be honest, I'm not sure how to use that file. I always have a problem with CS and I absolutely hate technical stuff. If you could PM me with the ledger details then I should be able to offer some suggestions.

Quote: To be honest, I'm not sure how to use that file. lol. I was thinking the same thing. I honestly dont know how to go about it. It's fine to have ideas but to implement them into script is not something I am good at. Lastnight I wrote this one. I have found it to be of the utmost importance to document what is happening to me. If I told anyone they would not believe me. In fact they may lock me up, call me crazy. But I am not insane, I have seen. It has come to me in my waken hours as promised. It has granted me a wish and even now extracts its fee. It has been three months since I entered the cave and found the fire. It was such a strange fire, it burned bright yet gave little heat. Its flames danced above the floor yet it did not burn when I passed my hand through. It was truly amazing. I don't know how long I stood just staring as if in a trance. When I finally turned away my legs were weak, my mouth was dry and I felt utterly exhausted. I left the cave and returned home. That night I dreamed of the fire, it's lovely flame dancing it's song. The following day I awoke to find the need to to see it again. The impulse was over powering and nothing that day or any other day afterwards would take precedence. When again I met the fire it called to me. It beckoned me to take it. I did as I was asked, fetching it in hand. It was not until later that evening that I realized it was more than just a fire. It was some how alive. I dare say it was the most frightening experience of my life. When I got home I was walking about trying to understand why I was carrying this flame within my palm and what I was going to do with it when the flame spoke. It told me to light a candle and then another and another. Before long I had twenty odd candles spread about the room and the fire in my hand had gone out. That night I dreamed of the fire again only this time it was different it had gained form. It had materialized into a being. It told me for my service it would grant me a wish. I was so excited I spoke immediately and asked for a powerful new bow to hunt with. What I didn't know was that it would extract a fee. A fee of servitude. These fires are now my prison. I cannot breath the fresh air outside of this house. I cannot sleep a restful sleep. Most waking hours I sit and stare or read in front of the flame. The power it has over me is intense. The being continues to visit in the night. It feeds on my very soul. I must find help or I will perish. ---------------------------------------------- I was thinking of creating a dremora as a demon that appears @ night and torments pete. The player is asked to help. If he chooses to help he must kill or remove the demon and the fires. ANyway as I said I am at a loss for what would be a good story line. |

Why won't this Quest script work?
scn StZKSCC0520TheFire Begin GameMode if GameHour >= 24 && <= 2 player.PlaceAtMe StZKSCC0520Magogtus, 1, 0, 0 endif end edit: I have the script linked to the Quest. |

That script looks like it'll add an NPC every time it runs (about every five seconds). You probably don't want that, so I'd just have one NPC that is enabled and disabled.

I am not going to pretend that I know how to script. I usually get by with bits and pieces modified from google searches.
I am trying to create an npc who will be the entity. He should appear maybe between midnight and 2 am. That is the script I need. StZKSCC0520Magogtus The player will later confront him, maybe some dialogue, but will ultimately have to kill it. |

Okay, so you'd like a bit of dialogue that basically characterises our Pete until we eventually confront this entity that has overcome him which is....like an especially powerful fire Atronach from the Daedric planes, perhaps...?
To be honest, I'm absolutely relishing the idea because I've always wanted to do nutters . The main questions are - * How much dialogue do you want? (e.g. 3 conversation topics, perhaps one referring to the diary, one more about Pete himself and one about his feelings and research on fire) * How much interaction do you want? (e.g. do we only have this encounter with the entity or will the player have to go and fetch something or perform some other act) also... * What form will this entity take and do you want some dialogue and voice acting for it? Personally, I think that voicing some kind of super-Atronach would be pretty cool because we generally don't hear them speak as an NPC, only a monster, and that would require some nifty technical stuff if we can manage it along with a bit of creativity in characterising the entity itself. How do others feel about speaking to monsters? Is it do-able?

Quote:Originally posted by Ibsen's Ghost Hi IG, I initially created a Dremora. I have read that they are not considered a "creature" so dealing with dialogue is easier. I have done a bit of work on the diary and dialogue. But I am willing to install better ideas. Since you are interested in creating dialogue/voice please do so. You can even revise the diary to coincide with your dialogue. I have a copy of the esp without dialogue or script so implementation would be simple enough I think. I also was keeping the quest to the single cell. If we are not using GetIsPlayableRace that may less complicate things. What do you think? |
