So how about we create Morrowind?

I hope it wouldn't be that bad on performance. It seems to me that making them exterior cells wouldn't lag it, but I don't know, since there could be issues with all the npcs.

The main worldspace DOES appear to be able to handle a large amount of NPC's. And I've never seen creatures cause villagers to get lost while they were fighting them, they returned right back.

One of the main reasons for the big walls was to help performance. If you tried to render all those trees while haveing tons of npc action, it will kill your performance.
edit: In oblivion, When in extior cells the amount of npc calculation was far less. In a city, you had far more npcs and far less nature. Look in the imperial city, There are way over 30 npcs that the computer has to keep track of due to the daily tasks of each one. If you tried to handle anything like that while still having the computer worry about all the forest rending and things of that such I'm afraid it will have a very negitive affect. I think that the city's in oblvion aren't accully interior cells either. I think they're a special city cell or something, though I'm not too sure about that. The only reason I say that is because the city's had special behaviors that a normal interior cell wouldn't have. Anyway. That's just what I think the case is. I'm not 100% sure. |

If it perfroms bad than Bethesda should've done an actual optimization, this is just a quick little work-around for them since they didn't want to it and make it better.
if it doesn't affect performance than its the xbox 360. but they could of optimized to work as exteriors on the xbox 360. It isn't that bad of a system spec wise. Bethesda was just being lazy and the laziness carried over to pc. |

That too. Either way, Xbox 360 is a bad influence on Bethesda. It's the main reason for pay for mods. Other games for xbox 360 have pay for stuff too.
