Hah, it must drained a bit of brain power, because my spelling was atrocious in that post. Still, I enjoy working out bits of music by ear, it's essentially a self confirmation that you're a good musician.

While it's a bit more mournful than the Adagio, I think you'd quite like Orientale by Enrique Granados, as the melody is fairly simple, yet carries quite a lot of emotional power. Pity there aren't any particularly good versions on Youtube, the one linked is probably the best.

I attached another of my antiquated favourites, which I like almost as much as the "MM6-theme-turned-out-to-be-Albioni's-adagio". I'm not sure if you're familiar with the .xm format but my perception of it is that it's kinda like "Midi v2"; it's much richer than oldskool midi but it's still generated by the player's computer. I've had it around since '97, when I got it with a magazine (so it's safe to say it's freeware music). Regrettably I've lost the name of the composer. But anyway, I like to listen to it now and then to cheer myself up. To my ears it has always sounded like totally pure happiness.
