its pretty obvious that each sign uses the same splotchy texture, maybe vary it up some so that it does look quite so unnatural when there are many of them? im talking about the darkness behind the name and the splotchy parts on the right, which are repeated in all the signs.

Yes, I think you brought to my attention something that was at the back of my mind there. When DoZeNt was working on them I was thinking that there was something not quite right about the whole thing. I think it may be best to just select some of these such as the signs belonging to the Blackwood settlements and keep those. Then, for other regional settlements such as the Jungle, Everglades, Parchlands and Darkmoor, perhaps make an alternative background.
I'd prefer not to change the base sign textures dramatically as they'll look out of place if they have to be placed on the same signpost but some subtle changes might work well......

Hmmm, it's not quite what I had in mind. Could you send over the textures, though? I'd like to take a look at them close up. The second one looks best to me at the moment. However, we may be better off creating a shell model for such an idea. Just rocks may not work. Nevertheless, if you go hunting for appropriate shell textures then it may give our modellers some ideas....we'll then need to mould the texture around the object.

I've got some work to do in RL soon. I'm just doing a quick browse for the moment. I'll have to contact you later after work....btw, googling 'seashell texture' comes up with some interesting stuff already. There are some really cool free texture sites that might have the perfect stuff!
