Concept Art; The Temple of Silgrad City

Right, have put a lil man (in the corridor) and an example of interior space. You need to decide what kind of room the outer buildings need,

• do we want any spikes back?
  
• Do the 3 outer rooms need to be larger? if so how much in comparison to the main dome? Baring in mine these are Burial Dome, The Monks Private Dome and Offices.
  
• Is the central dome large enough?
  
• Are the 3 placements for statues needed on the outer domes?
  
• there can easily be 3 or 6 more statue plinths if needed.
  
• Dont forget the central dome can extend underground!
  
• I envisage the main dome to have a large circular hole up the centre of any additional floors so that the dome roof can be seen.
  
• What about a Sistine Chapel-style roof painting? Khajiit style.

• Is the central dome large enough? Could you make an overview (scaled) so that I can compare the size of the central dome to the outer ones. If the central dome and the outer dome have the same scale then make the central dome larger

Sandor, How many plinths do you think then?

Also who would be modelling this? I ask as i fancy a crack myself, saves anyone trying to figure out my drawings. Learnt Rhino 3D last week and seem to getting along fine. Gonna give 3DSmax another bash though as its better for textures.. although im trying version4.0 of rhino too asap as thats supposed to be better and more inclusive of features.

anyway... basically let me know if this design appeals to you and i will model the exterior so we can see how its looking and adapt from there.

* Saint Aralor the Penitent -- Tanners and Miners
* Saint Delyn the Wise -- Potters, Glassmakers
* Saint Olms the Just -- Sailors, Chandlers, Clerks
* Saint Rilms the Barefooted -- Pilgrims, Beggars
* Saint Seryn the Merciful -- Brewers, Bakers, Distillers

The greater saints of the Temple, listed with their proper spheres, are:

* Blessed Almalexia the Warden -- Healers, Teachers,
* Lord Sotha Sil the Magus -- Artificers, Wizards,
* Lord Vivec the Poet -- Artists, Rogues,
* Saint Nerevar the Captain -- Warriors, Statesmen, and

How major is this temple and the town?

If major i propose the 5 Greater Saints on outer plinths and the 9 lessor on inner plinths OR the greater ontop of 5 outer-linked-domes (Like the above design) and the lessor in the grounds

OR

if Silgrad is large, maybe have a temple of the lessor saints and temple of the greater saints.

OR

A Temple of the greater saints and around it have the gardens of the lessor saints?

Right update on my model...

EARLY WIP: please just comment of the design not the model. But at the moment this is 1700 poly.

The right hand dome is the central dome, this shows 1 of the spurs with the double arch design, plenty of room to wander underneath. My though is to have 5 of the spur-domes each with a statue to each greater saint, these are then visible from the main dome windows (I will make a separate viewing area as part of the external model so you enter this circular corridor around the main dome. Think it will give a much better feel to things and make the world seem even more connected. Can do the same for the smaller domes too.

Will post more updates.

Let me know if it looks right, as much criticism as poss if you have any, helps guide me!

this ones still NNURBS so highest quality, shows the proposed layout for the 5 greater saints...

the arches are offcentre but thats no prob...

I love the design! I like the idea of having the 5 smaller domes each dedicated to one of the more important saints. There could be a shrine to each inside their corresponding dome, and a shrine to each of the lesser saints inside the central dome.

If I were to change one thing, I'd make the central dome slightly wider to emphasize the importance of it, and perhaps have it 'dip in' a little more. At the moment the smaller dome catches my attention more, I think mostly due to the shape of the lower area.

Edit: Sneaky update while I type my reply.

With the layout like that, I'd be tempted to link the 'bridging' parts together somehow, perhaps to provide another walkway around the central dome.

Sounds about right, will make the central more central looking. Maybe take the 5 a little further away and make the centre wider like you say.

I had thought about linking the 5 together too but wasnt sure. Maybe if I link them but using a different link, thinner and totally off the ground?
