that was discussed long ago, Vampires that is... Aundae would use magical means to try to lure out folks.... Berne would sneak in... and Quarra would go all out with big weapons

Seems as though the main reason for internal cities is for the interaction of all those npcs. All the external places I've been to are about 3 guys at a time. Might just be a performance thing.
If we want external cities we might just have to scale down on the amount of npcs that leave their house at the same block of time each day. True, I just meant human npcs using the full chunk of the radiant ai and all that. All the camps, shrines, inns, and little minitowns I've been to have had 3 people outside at a time.
You're right, in about a year most people will be able to comfortably run the game, should be ok. We just have to be sure to avoid 10-15 npcs outside their houses in external cities, I'm not sure it could take such a hit, even with a newer gpu or two. Also seems kind of unnecessary since most people don't walk around outside all afternoon. Most people will either stay home, visit some vendors, leave town to do whatever, or head to wherever they are programmed to go during the day. you forget market days when people all gather for market... most cultures have that, especially more tribal cultures... Imperial seems more into shops and stores

Nah I hear ya, people can always go around hitting up the shops. But in a medium sized town we'd just need to make it a point to not program 15 npcs to go get their groceries at exactly 9am every weekday. In a world like this it is kind of silly to have everyone on a strict 8-5 schedule anyway.

Maybe not 15 npcs at once. But 10 is good.
i have an upper-medium range computer, and I use the Adrenaline Oblivion mod which adds more spawns enemy and wildlife spawns. And my computer runs pretty good with alot of bandits on screen, lke 5-15 at once, usually 8-11 at once though. |

Well that's good news, I'm on the 'supported hardware' list so I didn't know how well it handles multiple AIs at the same time, in close proximity.
Regardless, it seems only logical to have almost all the cities external, just as in MW. From what I've seen in some of the quests I've done the AI handles itself in settlements in the same way it does inside the walls of a major city. I tottaly agree with you on the fact that morrowind shouldnt be in oblivion, but it is a mod and people that download it want that.
