Do you have anything else to offer other than to agree with everything else?

guys, hate to put it like this, but none of us have any idea what we're talking about in terms of what is possible in-game. The oblivion cities NEED to be autonumous regions to acheive their level of detail. This does not mean however that exterior citeies won't be possible (remember hackdirt, and the other small settlements?).
The larger cities (Ald' Ruhn, Balmora, Vivec, Ebonheart, Sadrith Mora, etc) will definetly need to be "interiors" as you guys keep refering to them as. The more medium sized ones (Gnisis, Suran, Tel Vos) will probably have to be autonumous regions as well, though we may be able to get a few into the main world. And the smaller settlements (Ald Velothi, Ashlander Camps, most Telvanni towers) could remain in the over-world just fine. Remember guys we can't just go running around willy-nilly making suggeestions without knowing how to implement them, or even the feasibility of implementation, we should try at least stay sorta grounded in reality, ok?

 thank you batman
but I have a question, how come Morrowind was able to have the cities in the open? or is it cause the set up was just different and Oblivion needs most larger towns to be in autonomous to run properly? |

Because the npcs wouldnt wonder off they had their spots and they wouldnt move very much now. Trolls could run in the city and run off with timmy if there wasnt no interior and as he said it takes away uniqueness and lots of lag would happen

I don't see how having cities on the main worldspace and not an autonumous region takes away uniqueness. I could see having cities in autonumous regions taking away from uniqueness, though (I always hated running into huge castle walls that all looked the same).
I'll try putting Oblivion's cities in the main worldspace one of these days to see if it can be done. |

Just a thought on a good way that you guys might be able to keep the spirit of your cities from Morrowind, why not when you have a city thats been heavily altered take some screenies of it, post it on the official forums, and ask people what the first location that pops into their head from the screenies is.

We're following Morrowind's original concept art before what is seen in TES3.

How do you guys plan on putting vivec in an interior? The only way i could see it done is having each canton a separate interior. The docks would be exterior with a door to go into a canton. To leave a canton to a pathway to another you would have to go through a gate to the exterior pathway. Then to enter the next canton you would have to walk the bridge and enter the next gate. It would have to be done this way so you could fall into the water if desired.
It would take 2 loading screens to switch cantons, annoying. I imagine it won't feel anything like the old vivec. |
