after the war..what???
rejoning the factions that didn't ally themselves with your house? yeah, that way the Great House War is sort of it's own self-contained maxi-quest (like a main quest should be...), and the're no confusion about conflicting factions in the war. You HAVE to choose a Great House, and thats the only choice that has any bearing on the main quest, that simplifies everything greatly... also, i think that the implementation of house Dagoth should be slightly different, i wanted them to be the ones orchestrating everything from behind the scenes pulling the other three house's strings, until, in one crucial moment, they pop out into the open and take control. I wanted them to be the equivilent of Palpatine in star wars... :brew: but hey, that only one mans opinion

Very good stuff, Batman and KuKulzA. We'll still have to be careful with not making the Giant Nix Hound corny, but the truce idea sounds good. I also like the Indoril and Dres angles, though sailing up the river in-game cannot be easy to script and might be better off happening when the PC is not there (go to the area and find them at a certain place with their boats moored etc.) I also like the Armiger/Ordinator/Crusder compromise.
Suggestions (some would indeed make a little more work for us): 1) We need to give either the Armigers or Crusaders a cool new uniform, maybe a light-wieght armor that looks sort of like Ordinator in the helmet for Armigers and the Crusaders just wear whatever the PC wants. 2) I agree with Batman (I think it was Batman) that the Sixth House should approach you immediately after you meet with Vivec and before you join one of the other Houses to present itself as an alternative. This does get rid of a huge infiltration angle and again raises the problem of needing probably twice as many quests for them as for the others, but I kind of like the setup for it. Clarification 1) So joining one of four Great Houses is mandatory. At a certain rank then the PC's is directed to the War Room for further instructions. Leaders of allied factions are there which the PC may or may not have joined, but their missions all come from the House representative in the room correct? This makes a lot of sense, and the only thing that I might add is that maybe there are a couple of extra little quests that the PC can get from the other leaders if he has joined their faction and reached an appropriate level. Basically , just one or two things to reward the PC for having done other things as well as the Great House. If they didn't, oh well, no big loss, but if they did, they can get a couple cool jobs that they otherwise wouldn't. All in all, excellent stuff. I like this, throw all ideas out on a topic and have our point man make them cohesive and that settles that aspect, on to the next one (unless enough people somehow think that it's terrible). Oh, and temporary expulsion/apologies is a great idea; everyone's supposed to be friends again at the end anyway and it keeps the game open-ended more instead of "choose a path and everything that goes with it at the expense of everything else." |

I like the ideas presented in this thread it is good to see you guys are forming a more cohesive storyline that still allows for some variables. I especially like the idea of having to join a great house to begin a quest. I can just picture the 6th house offer.
**** PC has left Vivec's palace after discussing the choices of Great Houses. They go and investigate each house and are told to meditate on their course of actions (basically go rest and then return to talk to them.) [The following would only occur if the PC is a Dunmer] The PC is interrupted during their rest (was it a dream or something more?) to see a plain clothed Dunmer flanked by two ash slaves. The man has a kind smile and simple demeanor but there is no warmth in his voice Dunmer: "Outlander, you have been lied to. The false-god wishes for you to choose one of his three houses. He knows the truth; that a war will soon spring up that will tear this land assunder. But he does not realize that from this war will arise a new Morrowind, stronger than he ever imagined. I come bearing an offer from another House, not from the Indoril or the Dres, but from the forgotten House...the lost House...the 6th House, House Dagoth. Do not utter false against this oath, it will not be offered again." After he finishes his speech the PC awakes to find them gone and in their place an ash statue. If the PC chooses to join one of the three houses they may do so now, but if they take the statue inside the Ghost Gate (or another 6th House stronghold) they will be confronted by Dagoths and be able to serve among them. **** Not only is this a way to choose your side for the Great House War, but it acts as a foreshadowing of the future Temple vs 6th House conflict. My only qualm is: Why would Vivec call for the PC to come to the aid of Vvardenfell? Is this before or after the PC has found the lost heir? If after, why would Vivec call upon aid from a hero of the Empire? Will the PC be allowed to traverse Vvardenfell during of after the events of Oblivion? You guys need to make sure that the PC and Vivec have concrete reasons for becoming involved with each other. I'm assuming that a lot of this will be decided after you get a chance to play Oblivion and how much you are willing to deviate from the lore established therein. I'm really enjoying the way you guys think through this, its nice to be the proverbial fly-on-the-wall.

Welcome, Joe. I'd give you the bouncy guy, but this isn't the right thread. Anyway, I like your ideas and the Vivec invite thing is a valid point (we never really came up with a really good reason for it other than that he's really wise and clairvoyant and knows that you're the one to help save Vvardenfell). I do think that we're planning to have the island and such open to the PC from the beginning, but Vivec's invite (or whatever it ends up being) after the Oblivion Main Quest is completed. So basically, you can do anything on Vvardenfell up until the outbreak of the House War prior to finishing Oblivion, but you can't get further than that.
To get around the Vivec suggesting that you join a House if you've already been to Vvardenfell and joined one, let's put a sensor into his dialogue that recognizes your membership and says, "The services you have rendered to your House in the past will serve you well in the coming days, but be careful not to allow your alliegences to cloud your judgment. In the end, the Dunmer are one." (Something like that) |

hey Joe Venice, glad to see you back around these forums....
and yes, good idea with the 6th House... Vivec is inviting you to Vvardenfell HOW: when you go to a port in Blacklight, Ebbedin, or any other coastal town, a special Temple Priest at the docks will give you a letter from Vivec.... when you decide to go to Vvardenfell, the boatsman will tell you that he has had special orders to bring you straight to Vivec first... if you agree and want to go to Vvardenfell... you will be sent to Vivec in his palace... a short cinematic will ensure... and you will find yourself face to face with the 'false' god... WHY: he knows you will save Cyrodiil... and if you are one to help fight off Oblivion, you will be very helpful fighting Daedra on Vvardenfell, where Ordinators are fewer in nuber than on the mainland... and Vvardenfell is where there are many Daedric Cultists hiding |

duh people, vivec is still basically a god and so he knows you'll save cyrodil (or that you already have if thats the case...) and so he invites you to save his little island too
but i do think that having the entrance to our mod be through another mod is a bad idea, though. and i'm going to have daedric cutists featured in one of my gnisis quests...
