Im not a big fan of having a bunch of random dungeons require levitation to complete. Its not in Elder Scroll's nature to present the player with a bunch of situations in which they much so tightly conform to the developer's wishes. Imo mandatory uses of levitation should be limited to a small number, and have a very good reason to back it up other than "becasue its cool":. Usually Tes 3's levitation only spots in dungens were just to get an extra chest or other goody, and wern't nessisary to really "complete" the dungen. The only spots in which you HAD to use levitation to get where you needed to get to were in Telvanni towers, and the ministry of truth, which both had very sensable explinations.
But aside from that, I thought one of the issues behind levitation was the technical problems it caused with OB's outdoor environments? Was that just a lie beth made? Or a rumor? Two more things to think about: A: if levitation was freely usable, would it cause problems in back in Cyrodill, like the cities in separate worldspaces? B: How are we going to get NPCs to actually move around in Telvanni Towers? Pathfinding AI is already messed up as it is! (poor felows can't even jump, let alone fly) |

Bethesda couldn't include levitation because they had to put the towns in their own worldspaces because of the 360.
As for them moving around... well, they're mages who are extremely interested in study. They would probably cast spells to summon food or give them energy; eating gets in the way of studying. Sleep... well, there should be enough beds accessable without levitation... but do they need sleep? |

i feel that adding levitation wud add a lot of unnecessary work..
like the AI, land loading issues form above, techincal issues in the CS, and the fact that everything in the game involving levitation would have to be rescripted since the Oblivion engine isn't supposed to have levitation. The effort isnt worth the rewards |

Someone was doing it by placing a plate under the player.

Levitation should be in. I also think that mages guild dungeons should make you have levitation, since you are a mage. Other places you could just get an extra chest and a way to get by some enemies.
You could make Cyrodiil like Mournhod, with Levitation off. The effort is worth the rewards. Someone already made levitation anyway. |

How about an activator of some sorts, and a collsion box whisks th eplayer to the tower as if he is flying?

That would mean that non mages could easily get in, and that would hurt realism. An intelligence check wouldn't be good eithr, because you could still get in with a levitation potion.

What about a quest to prove your worth to gain access to the teleporter?

I guess that would be ok, but kind of a hassle. The towers were designed with a game where you could levitate in mind. I think we can and should include it.
