I love your work Keilanai.
Okay I started on making you some paper lanterns. I'll try to get a pakcage of twelve so you will have some variety. If there is a certain lantern you want, let me know.

Here is how they will be- for each lantern there will be 2 versions- on and off. Both will have a candle, but the "on" version has texture glow and a working flame. The "off" version is just as is. You'll just set both as lights and leave the "off" one as black light and the "on" whatever light you chose. (In my tests, they looked really good with a pale yellow color with a slow flicker and 512 light)

You can then place them (on and off) in the exact same spot and disbale the "on" version. Have a message box script on both versions so when you click on them it will ask it you like to light the lantern and if you select yes, the script will switch the models out. Here is a tutorial on message boxes if you're interested

One of the first things I learned in scripting :O
Wow, RA, thank you! ^_^ Twelve lanterns! Are you sure you don't mind? I have not done any scripting, but this sounds easy. I will take a look at it, and let you know how it goes. I will add touches like that toward the end, though. Right now I just want the models in place to build interior and exterior. Even NPC's are standing around doing nothing at the moment. Their AI will be last.

Thank you also, Ysne. ^_^ I'm having fun with design again. I was able to make my first kimono with Corthian's new mesh this morning. I decided it should be Aoi-chan's trademark blue sakura silk. (Oh no! She has converted Kielanai to the WAY OF THE BLUE!!) I will leave a message regarding that in Corthian's thread, but there are some screens updated with it in the collection at the previous link.

I ran into a new problem, too. I was making Akaviri food ground models, and used the "pearl" mesh to create takoyaki (octopus dumplings). But I can't get rid of the shine. Does anyone know how to delete that glossy shine? Screen examples below.

Maybe you should try to get the alpha map of the normal map black. Or maybe get rid of the normal map. Smile
Great works guys here.
I'm glad design has become fun again. We have so many great people here.
No, I like doing it Smile I won't highjack your thread anymore, so I'll put all new info on the lanterns in my little forum area.

Like mirrored said- make sure your normal map has a dark alpha channel. If it's not the texture, open up the nif in NifSkope and find the texture dropdown and select the pallete icon. Change the specular setting to dark or black. That will get rid of the shiny.
I tried turning specular to black and gloss to 0, but that didn't work. I now suspect glow map is the problem, but I don't know how to turn it off. I found lots of tutorials telling me how to create one, but not a way to remove one. I tried to retexture glass arrows and it did the same thing. Sad Textures I'm using for takoyaki are from game (boar meat and something else), so I don't think they would be shiney. I don't know about alphas, but the pearl and glass items both have glow maps. Frustrating ...

Oh well. Everything else is good. ^_^ I have added a guard barracks and continued to make other adjustments all over the island. This time, I hope to take advantage of a few other mods that give permission to borrow stuff under proper credits.

New Updates

RA, I will check your thread about the lanterns! ^_^ Thanks again!

(Kielanai is personally making sure her guards are happy and living well.)

Screens of the bookstore and magic shop are uploaded now. Weapons and armor shop is next.

Akaviri Kojima Machi (Beta)

There are lots of dish screens because I was trying to give RA a feel for some bowl meshes.

Does anyone know of a tutorial that allows you to put a special creature in the game? Like how to retexture a dog without retexturing every dog in the gameworld?

I am proud of this wall scroll. It is my real wall scroll that hangs by my front door. And the vase is covered in the texture from a flower vase in my kitchen. I also patterned a teapot with a red and gold kiku pattern from Tokyo for the red tea potion. I don't have it on display anywhere yet, but more is on the way! ^_^

if you apply your new textures to the creature in nifskope, then when you're done just save it under a different name. Then in CS add it in the same way you would a static object, by right-clicking and selecting new in the items window.

There is are some really helpful retexturing tutorials in the CS wiki as well.
