Alright, a bit of an update here. Perhaps quite overdue, all the song names in the first post are now links to their respective SoundClick full info page.

The Commonlands has gotten some polish. There's a new drums-rich jungle battle theme, Breeding Grounds, and a jungle explore track, Strangleweed. As for the style of it, it's mostly the Pholmolo area.

Edit: Oh, and are we using OBSE all of sudden? That'd make music implementation roughly 137.3 times easier.

Those three songs sound real nice, Xaeaix.

About OBSE: if we need to use OBSE, then we will. But so far, we don't think that any scripting reliant on OBSE has been submitted to us yet.

So it'd make implementing music easier? Cool, that's nice to know. I know with vanilla Oblivion, it's awkward and hard to get new music to play only in certain areas..

Thanks, Xae. I set up this thread: Reasons to use OBSE .

I'm liking 'Breeding Grounds' and 'Strangleweed' (especially) a lot! :goodjob:
Maybe this is something for religious areas, such as shrines and cathedrals. It's heavily ambient and very gentle in volume, more or less a half-way between music and silent.

Miserere Mei
Well, there's no difficulty in deciding the location: Stormhold Cathedral. However, as a looping track it might not work effectively as it's quite a linear piece of music. It would work better as a selected intro on arrival in the Cathedral. Nice piece though. :goodjob:
Hi Xae,

I'm hoping to set up a separate bsa soon with extra sounds to be added later. At the moment, I've got my voice files for Anaster, a wide variety of animal sounds and your own OST but, after asking after the files the last time, I still haven't been able to add them as I'm not sure where they should go. Is there a separate music folder or do they go into the 'fx' or 'Voice' folders?

I'm assuming they will go into sound\fx\ambient\regions\ and then wherever they are supposed to be set up for....? It will probably then be a simple case of modding those regions so that they're set up to receive the sounds but, in the meantime, I just need to know what file structure the different sounds should have.

I'd still like to keep sounds separate for the time being but an esp that adds them shouldn't be too hard to do. I'm doing this now as I realise the need for me to record which animals have original sounds that I can equip at a later date.
Music can go anywhere, though there is the Oblivion\Data\Music folder handy for that. It depends largely on how we're going to implement it.

In case we're using OBSE: This modding resource sounds just like the thing, as it has the ability to create custom playlists, as well as a nice array of good general enhancements to the way music is played. It'd allow us... well, quoting from the description: "This release adds commands for manipulating playlists, allowing you to build your own and replace the default music. Create new music for your mod's world, and swap out the Explore music with yours".
Cool! Downloading it now. So should I put everything in the music folder? Do the explore, public and so on tracks need to be put in separate folders or are they fine just inside the music folder?
Battle tracks go in the Battle folder, Dungeon tracks go in the Dungeon folder and so on. If you want to have just the BM music for testing, rename the original Music folder to "Musicx" and create a new one with just the BM stuff in it. So, put all the parchlands tracks into the Explore folder, start Oblivion and walk around the Parchlands. Then rinse and repeat for each region. For now, this is the only way to get the right music for each area.
Hmm, strange. I can never seem to find those files (and folder paths) whenever I look into the vanilla bsa archives....(looks at the folders)...doh! They're already unpacked!

It looks like I need a slap! Blush

Won't I need to do something to assign music to the appropriate regions...?
