then again friendly fire is a very REAL aspect of war.... generals were as afraid of their own soldiers accidentally hitting each other as the other side so therefore got unique uniforms, each army had mutual (silent) agreement to lines, etc.
without such stupid formalities, war needed to be much more coordinated and complex to account for the multitudes of troops

please make another thread for this cross-fire stuff, thanks Big Grin
But it's so much easier to accidentally hit a friend instead of a foe in a game, with unrealistic AI causing NPC's to run right in front of you while you're slashing, and all that other stuff.

@Raggidman: It would be extremely cool if one of those leaders got 'sick of the red' and decided to a "fake" allout attack at Divayth Fir, while he takes over bussiness at the 6th house homebase. You're quests would be like killing the remnants of the 'reddish' 6th house.
....

Tricky that. Question is would it make the other Houses agree to trust them? If they cannot gain trust then they would fall to KK's (or whoever it was's?) assertion that all the other Houses just want to exterminate the 6th House.

But a true sacrifice by the parents of a 6th house peace faction might change the attitude enough to allow the children to reassume their birthright openly, provided there were other significant factors...

Now if the 'new leader' were to inform the other Houses of his plan, how would they respond? would Divayth Fyr be happy about this, and is he respected generally in Morrowind and beyond?

Maybe another location for an attack would be possible - but the whole idea would have to be very subtly built up to in order to have any credence - there could be no open admission as to what was happening. If anyone smelt a rat then that would be a disaster.

Also you would need another enemy to ally with your new 6th House against or what ned would the Great Houses have of a new 6th House. No one single act could redeem them. The entire Main Quest would have to be constructed t make the possibility, and there would need to be some very fundamental new Lore introduced into the mix.

With the Tribunal gone, and the true reasons for its downfall, maybe this is a possiblity... what if the Good Daedra decide that the 6th House can be cleansed, and that in so doing the 6th House will have paid for their sins?
I can see only ONE way that House Dagoth could be accepted if not liked...

if there was a foreign invader on a huge-scale...

IF for example...
the Akaviri attacked, they would either land on the less defended Telvanni lands/northern Indoril lands, or in northern Vvardenfell. Thus if the House Dagoth thwarts them and openly shows their prowess, the newer generations of Dunmer would be like "WHOA!".....

IF for example...
Skyrim united under one great king and once again invaded Morrowind, and House Dagoth saved both Telvanni and Redoran single-handely... and all of Vvardenfell and the rest of Morrowind, putting everyone to shame and gratitude.... the newer generations would be like... "WHOA!"....

IF for example...
somehow the Argonians all assembled and charged into Morrowind even as th Hlaalu and Dres armies are fighting Indoril. With all of southern Morrowind quickly falling to Argonians and Indoril and Dres-Hlaalu in a stalemate, and Redoran busy with Nords and Daedra and Telvanni with Nords.... if the Argonians pushed as far as Vvardenfell and if the House Dagoth arose and beat them.... the new generations of Dunmer would be like "WHOA!"...

IF for example... ahhh, never mind, you get the point, and the Empire is too weak anyhow to attack
Hmm... thats a really good idea. Think of all the things we could do with house Dagoth being excepted (barely) in society!

that would be called "lore-rape" by purists... "reasonable" by moderates... and "f*ck yeah!" by simply gamers Big Grin

however, the argonian invasions are large scale skirmishes, and they are only trying to take arnesia, the Nords are more like raiders not full-fledged invasions...
but the Akaviri, any of their races... they could be a possibility... maybe
House Dagoth was hated bitterly since it came into being (well, it was more simply just looked down upon before the War of the First Council, THEN it was hated).

Why does everyone want the Sixth House to become accepted? It's just unrealistic. Even if they do, they'll still be heavily looked down upon. Infamy never dies.
true true

I am beginning to think that the second MQ idea isn't so great...
I dunno... I mean House Dagoth rising again is a good idea... the Temple's last stand is as well...
but making it so tht lore is not killed but made to support it is hard....
perhpas the second MQ will not be an official part of the mod but a supplementary plug-in.... or not at all...

I am finding it hard to make it work out... true, the Temple is losing influence, true there is nothing OFFICIAL about House Dagoth reviving, we only know it probably is still there, and we must consider that all this does not fit so well into the established lore...

also, joining the 6th House woul dmake you an eternal outlaw.... basically anyone not 6th House will try to kill you or get someone to... and so it might not be so fun.... and without a 6th House to fight, why join Temple?

*sigh*
We'll find a way for it to work. We've got a TON of time on our hands.
