The first one is supposed to be a common type of armour where as the second one is supposed to be more uncommon. The second one is still a WIP and the first one already has a female version.

Excellent armor!

Both are quite nice but if I had to pick one, it would be the second. The colors are top-notch and it looks nice and light; as it should.

I look forward to seeing them in game...

I am not thrilled by how the armour skirt came out, I am considering redoing it...

The armored skirt doesn't look bad at all. It could stand to be a bit longer as most of the samurai armor I've seen (but not all) has the skirt nearly come down knees but the plates are placed correctly and the silk underneath looks very nice.

The armored skirt does not look bad at all, but if you think you can make it look even better, go for it! :]

The armour is in game, and deforms very well. There are problems with the skirt which I have deemed impossible to fix, the skeleton doesn't allow for skirts, even Vanilla skirts deform horribly. I made female version. I originally wanted to use the default white kimono but on a whim I changed it, it makes all the difference.

The color of the hakama can be almost anything, i suggest you find some samurai pictures for good ideas.
Can you show us an in-game picture of the armor?
The sleeves of the armor should also be armored, what you have now are han-gote (half armored sleeves) it's not wrong or anything, but it would be nice to have kote like this (scroll down, bottom left picture) http://www.toraba.com/rgusoku-0601-0101.htm

EDIT: I hope you can make the armored sleeves, they will allow me to give the armor a better protection rating in-game, the sleeves are made of chainmail and steel plates.
If you will make them, the color and patterns of the shirt could be used for the hakama instead
