if you look at Bethesda's Morag Tong concept art.... there were robes... just it was mostly netch armor beneath... so sure, robes are fine... but not ALL Morag Tong have them... most go the practical way of tight membranous netch armor... not necessarily cooler though
then lets have a secret part of the morong tong with them loike senior members that are elite killers. like partners in a law firm. Or like me and my buddys flying up there with our raptors when we get just the flight leads up there o we kick ass

no a group of the best of the best, un rivialed masters at their craft. like leaders that are behind the scene and nobody knows when they kill becasue they dont use writs and are all for stealth and invisibility. know to stalk a prey for weeks these are the best and are hired for 100's of thousands of gp
